Merrill Middle School Families,

Thank you for a great start to the school year.  Your children continue to amaze us everyday with all of the amazing things they do!

As the cold weather is quickly approaching, please be sure to send your students to school with warm clothing.  We try to go outside and burn off some youthful energy as often as possible. This includes some colder days!

Also, please be aware of when you child is coming to school.  Middle School students should not be arriving any earlier than 7:50 AM; classes begin for our students at 8:19 AM.  Supervision is provided on the playground at this time.

i Ready Assessment Details

We are excited to share that our school district  is implementing a math and reading assessment program for grades 3-8 called i-Ready. Below, you will find information on the program and how we will be using it in the classroom. i-Ready will support full implementation of our district adopted curriculum resources in math and literacy.

What is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an online assessment platform that will help us determine your child’s needs, personalize his or her learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child exactly where he or she is and provides data for us to increase your child’s learning gains.

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on his or her answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your child’s learning in the classroom.

When will my child take the  i-Ready assessment?
We will do this assessment three times per year so that teachers can use the student learning information to adjust instruction for your child.
