Dear Students and Families,

Here at Merrill Middle School we value attendance and punctuality. Getting to school on time fosters success and helps students create positive and life long habits that support their goal to be college and career ready.

We understand that after the holidays and a long break it can be difficult for students to get back into the swing of things and restart the positive habits they have already created.

To help re-establish those positive habits, our school will have an attendance challenge from January 2nd through January 17th. The first hour, from each grade level, with the best attendance will get an incentive!

Please help your child get to school on time. We recognize that winter weather can create many barriers, such as cars that won’t start, windows that need to be defrosted, sidewalks that need to be shoveled, and cold walking conditions. Please be prepared; make sure your child is wearing the appropriate winter gear if they are walking and have a back up plan on how to get your child to school.

As always, if your child is unable to make it to school, please be sure to call the office and inform them of your child’s absence. This is a state law and is for your child’s safety!

                                                                                 Merrill Middle School

Breakfast program starts at 7:40 and runs until 8:10

                                                         Outside supervision starts at 7:50

                                                         First bell rings at 8:10

Students are expected to be in their seats at 8:19

8:19-8:29 is tardy, anything 8:30 and beyond is unexcused

                                                        Main Office: 920-424-0177

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help make sure your child is getting to school on time.

We hope you have a wonderful winter break!

i Ready Assessment Details

We are excited to share that our school district  is implementing a math and reading assessment program for grades 3-8 called i-Ready. Below, you will find information on the program and how we will be using it in the classroom. i-Ready will support full implementation of our district adopted curriculum resources in math and literacy.

What is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an online assessment platform that will help us determine your child’s needs, personalize his or her learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child exactly where he or she is and provides data for us to increase your child’s learning gains.

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on his or her answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your child’s learning in the classroom.

When will my child take the  i-Ready assessment?
We will do this assessment three times per year so that teachers can use the student learning information to adjust instruction for your child.
